‘Man has turned his back on silence. Day after day he invents machines and devices that increase noise and distract humanity from the essence of life, contemplation, meditation’, said Jean Arp (1886-1966).

But he did not bank on the way that new technologies and rapidly changing media would help us to visualise, interpret and challenge contemporary culture.

UWE final year media students exhibit digital video, photography and online media in this collective showcase, which uses the setting of Cabot Circus to explore themes such as technology, nostalgia, voyeurism, chemical vs digital breakdown, escapism, the city and our relationship with brands.

Final year UWE media students explore contemporary culture. Exhibition continues in the UWE Degree Show 2013 at Bower Ashton.
